2008 FIGHTING IRISH YOUTH FOOTBALLPARENT INFORMATIONWe can sign up new players for our Varsity, Junior Varsity & Prep Teams until the preview dates. PRACTICE INFORMATION:BRING A WATER BOTTLE TO PRACTICE & GAMES. Football shoes/cleats should be worn.
Aug 4 through Aug 6 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Fisher Catholic Football Field. Wear helmets, shorts, and T-shirts. Remember to bring water! Aug 7 & 8 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Fisher Football Field in pads & practice uniform. A practicejersey will be assigned for each player. Do not wear the new game jerseys to practice at any time. The game jerseys are to be worn for games and team functions only. Note: Contact may not begin until Friday Aug 8th. Aug 11 through 14 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Fisher Football Field in pads. Aug 18 through 21 6:30 to 8:30 PM at Fisher Football Field in pads Aug 22 Pictures – Individual pictures will begin at 4:30 pm. PREVIEW INFORMATIONIf you cannot make the weigh-ins/previews please contact the coach immediately. (All players must be weighed-in prior to preview games). Please support the host team concession stand when possible. Aug 23 (Saturday) - Junior Varsity Preview at Berne Union. Please be there by 11:30am. dressed in game pants & game jerseys—weigh in starts promptly at 12:00 (do not wear shoulder pads for weigh-in, put them on afterwards for the games). You will need your helmet for the weigh-in. Game will start at 1:00pm (Teays Valley will be our opponent). We will be the Home Team. Aug 24 (Sunday) - Varsity Preview at Bloom Carroll - please be there by 10:30 am dressed in game pants & game jerseys—weigh in starts promptly at 11:00am (do not wear shoulder pads for weigh-in, put them on afterwards for the games). You will need your helmet for the weigh-in. Game will start at 12:00 pm (Teays Valley will be our opponent). We will be the Visiting Team. PREP -No Preview Game is scheduled. Travel about 3 miles, turn right on Hamburg Rd. Proceed to new high School on right. BLOOM CARROLL: Rt. 33 north to traffic light at Carroll. Turn right on Carroll-Southern Rd. and take immediate right on Plum Rd./High St.. Continue short distance. School is on left. BERNE UNION: Take Rt. 33 South for 5 miles from the city limits to the flashing light beside Sugar Grove. Turn left at light, takes you into Sugar Grove. Street bears to the left, proceed several blocks, school is on the right. HARVEST PREP: Take Rt. 33 west to Gender Rd. Turn right (north) on Gender Rd. Proceed to school on left, 4595 gender Rd. MILLERSPORT: Rt. 37 north to Rt. 204, turn right. Proceed to Rt. 256 and turn right into Millersport. Turn right at traffic light and proceed 3 blocks. School is on left just past elementary. WESTFALL: Take Rt 22 to Circleville. Stay on Rt 22 through Circleville, cross the Scioto River, turn right at Rt. 56. Go approx. 9 miles. The school is on the left.
TEAM PHOTOS will be taken on Friday, Aug. 22 at the Fisher Football Field. Individual photos will start at 4:30pm with team photo following around 6:00pm. An order form will be sent home later this week. Wear complete game uniform. Light practice may follow? FCHS OPENER (YOUTH FOOTBALL INTRO NIGHT) – (TBA)Wear your game jersey and get in free. An announcement recognizing the Irish cheerleaders and football players will be made over the public address system. However, we will not be introduced on the field during halftime. There is not enough time! POT-LUCK BANQUET & UNIFORM TURN IN is scheduled for Sunday Oct 12th 1:00pm – 3:00pm at the Fisher Catholic Alumni Hall. More information regarding the Pot-Luck meal will be distributed at practice. Please bring all washed equipment (practice and game uniforms, helmet, and all pads) in a large trash bag with name on the outside of the bag. If you can not make it to the banquet, please make arrangements to turn in equipment earlier. The deadline to turn in equipment is Oct 12th. This is a forum for notices, schedules, and calendar of events, updates, communication and directions to away games. CONCESSIONS A work schedule will be passed out to all parents/guardians at the beginning of the season, with everyone scheduled to work one shift when your son is not playing his game. Please find a replacement (or swap with someone) if you cannot work your scheduled shift. Please participate willingly… this is a large part of our fund raising dollars & we need your help! PRACTICE CANCELLATION POLICY TO DUE WEATHER, ETC - If it is just raining, we will still practice. In the event of extreme weather (thunderstorms/etc), we will wait as late as possible to cancel a practice. The decision to cancel will be made by 5 pm. Cancellations will be made by phone. We will need to have contact persons (for each of the four teams) who we can contact, and then make the call for each team. Please call if you can help. Theresa Faulkner 654-9689 GAME JERSEY WASH and CARE INSTRUCTIONS - Each player will receive a game jersey. These jerseys are expensive and are easily damaged if not washed properly. Please use the following directions when washing these jerseys. IMPORTANT: Wash uniforms in cold water. Some uniforms (this season) are new and some are a year old, but just to be safe, wash them in cold water. IMMEDIATELY AFTER GAMES, WASH YOUR GAME JERSEY - DO NOT LET THEM SIT DIRTY…..the perspiration on them greatly increases the risk of dye/color migration & lessens the life of the jersey. WASH jerseys INSIDE OUT with a Mild Detergent using in COLD WATER on GENTLE CYCLE and then HANG DRY (wooden or plastic hanger). DO NOT BLEACH! DO NOT DRY CLEAN, DO NOT IRON OR PRESS GARMENTS! Screen-printing will melt and the rib trims will lose their stretch.
DIGITAL PHOTOS AND VIDEOIf anyone takes digital photos or video footage of games during the season and would like to share them, please make copies and we will do our best to have them included on our Irish Football DVD at the end of the season.
